Thermal Acoustical Pest Control (TAP) Insulation:
EPA-registered TAP pest control insulation is an innovative solution for removing unwanted pests from the home while helping save money on energy costs all year long.
As an EPA-registered pesticide, TAP pest control insulation controls common pests that invade the home through the attic such as ants, boxelder bugs, centipedes, cockroaches, millipedes, silverfish, and stink bugs.
TAP is green and aligns with current IPM techniques. When added to existing insulation or installed on its own, TAP insulation controls bugs and helps to keep the air in the living areas of your home comfortable. It reduces the energy needed to heat or cool your home and, in turn, reduces your heating and cooling costs.
Uniquely offering two solutions in one product: an energy-efficient blown-in insulation coupled with the added value of pest control. TAP pest control insulation helps keep the bugs out and comfort in.
Encapsulation/Moisture Control:
There is always air movement occurring between your crawl space and house. Even if your floor is insulated, air is still traveling throughout your house. This process is called the stack effect or convection. Warm air in the upper level of your home rises and is expelled through windows, vents, cracks, and gaps. As it rises, air from lower levels, including the crawl space, of your home rushes in to fill the vacuum.
Air from your crawlspace enters your home along with everything in it. Odors, fungus spores, and dust mite feces enter your home. This can cause a variety of respiratory problems, including allergies and asthma. Air, often filled with more moisture, gets sucked into the crawl space from the outdoors. In this sense, a poorly designed crawl space acts like an air quality risk.
Excess moisture in a vented, dirt-floored crawl space can damage insulation while also causing fungus problems.
Heavy-duty moisture barriers used in the encapsulation process transform the crawl space into a dry, clean, energy-efficient part of the house.
